How To Find More Clients For Your Cleaning Business

Are you looking for new clients for your growing cleaning business? Marketing and sales can feel like an overwhelming task! But it doesn’t have to be painful.

You simply need a plan. My cleaning business began in Peel Region, over 5 years ago. Within my first year, I grew my company to a team of 10 employees.

My business grew and evolved, as I learned along the way. I decided to close my business, share this knowledge, and shift my focus to helping other small businesses grow.

One of the things I learned is that having multiple lead generation streams is the best way to ensure a consistent flow of new inquiries.

Create a Sales Plan to Help You Book More Customers

Break it down into manageable steps, so it doesn’t seem so overwhelming:

1) Define your ideal client. Selling becomes much easier if you are selling to people who really need your service. Who do you want to work with? Who can benefit from your service?  What type of client is most profitable?

2) Create a brand and message that sets you apart. You want the choice to be obvious. What makes you unique? Why should clients choose you? How are you going to make their lives better?

3) Get in front of those clients. You want to show up for the right people. Where do they spend their time online? Are they actively searching for your services? How can you make sure they find you?

4) Show your worth. Let people know how you can help. What do they have to gain by working  with you? How are you going to make their lives easier?

5) Call them to action. Don’t be shy! Ask for the sale. Let potential clients know what the next step is, and how they can hire you.

How to Find Your Ideal Clients

Email Marketing

Building an email list of current and past clients can be a great way to communicate new offers and specials. It is especially handy if you are seeking commercial clients. One of the best ways to build your list is to offer an incentive such as a discount, E-book, or checklist when they subscribe to your email list. It can take a bit of time to build, but you have an audience of people who need your cleaning services once you have it.

An Up-To-Date Website

A website is like your online salesperson. A great site can help you find clients while you sleep! Be clear on who you serve, what services you offer, and how you can help. As you grow, bring in a pro to optimize your site for search engines. SEO helps your website show up when people search for the services you offer.

Social Media Marketing

Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, Twitter….there are a lot of options. If doing all of it seems overwhelming, choose one platform and go all in. Get into the mindset of your ideal client. Where do you think they spend their time online? That’s where you want to show up!

Paid Advertising

Depending on your budget, many options can help get you in front of your ideal clients. Google Ads and Facebook ads are both excellent choices. You choose what you want to spend and can test to see what works for you.

Networking Groups

Joining networking groups in your area can be a great way to meet people who may need your cleaning services. You can also create alliances – if you specialize in corporate cleaning and another business in your area specializes in washing windows, you can trade referrals back and forth.

These networking groups are also a great way to find other professionals who can help you build your business. No one expects you to be an expert in every area! Outsourcing the parts of your business you don’t have experience in or simply don’t enjoy will make you feel so much lighter.

One of my personal favourite networking groups is the BusiWomen Entrepreneur Community and my wonderful BNI Chapter.

Job Boards

Job boards are a great way to connect with clients who are actively looking for your services. You create a profile and enter the type of cleaning jobs and clients you are seeking. Depending on the site, you can either bid on available jobs or post your profile and have clients reach out to you.

After being part of many of these job board websites,  I created  Professional Cleaning Connect, which brings  together all of the aspects of the sites I liked.

We work hard to market our website and to find customers who need the cleaning services you offer. Our goal is to match the best cleaners with their ideal clients.

We also share the knowledge we have built after working in the industry for over 20 years. We want to see your cleaning business succeed!
